FAQ

Do you accept insurance?

Yes! I am currently in-network with UnitedHealthcare commercial plans, UMR, Tricare West, Centivo, Aetna, and First Health Network. I hope to be in-network with other major insurance companies in the near future.

If I am not in-network with your insurance, I am able to see you on a self-pay basis. If you choose to self-pay for your appointment, I am happy to provide you with a Superbill that you may submit to your insurance for reimbursement. I am also able to accept many HSA cards.

If you need breastfeeding support, but aren't sure my services fit your budget, please reach out. I can direct you to other low-cost or free resources, and also offer a sliding scale/scholarship option for those that need it.

How long will my in-home appointment last?

In-home appointments last about 1.5-2 hours for an initial appointment and about 1 hour for follow-up appointments. These are not charged at an hourly rate and are only estimated timeframes.

I need help, but I can't afford the out of pocket cost. Can you still help me?

If you have insurance, your appointment may come with no out-of-pocket costs! Reach out if you're not sure about your insurance coverage.

I do offer a limited number of sliding scale appointments each month based on income, as well as some scholarship appointments. Please reach out if you would like to see if these are an option for you. If I do not have sliding scale/scholarship opportunities available, I can point you to some additional free or low-cost resources to help with your journey.

What sort of difficulties can you help with?

Some of the things I can help with are: Getting baby to latch, over or undersupply, assess milk transfer, alternate feeding options and equipment, starting complimentary foods, going back to work or being separated from baby, weaning, and more.

Can I text or call if I have follow-up questions?

Clients who have scheduled at least one appointment with me are always welcome to text or call with questions about their care plan. Some questions may not be able to be answered via text/call and may need a follow-up appointment.

I'm not sure if I need an appointment, how would I know?

If you are not a current client and aren't sure if your situation warrants an appointment, or if you'd like to chat to see if I'm the right lactation counselor for your family, please feel free to text/call or use the Contact Me form. If I cannot help you, I can refer you to other professionals in the area.

What is a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC)?

According to the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice, "The Certified Lactation Counselor® (CLC®) certification identifies a professional in lactation counseling who has demonstrated the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities to provide breastfeeding counseling and management support to families who are thinking about breastfeeding or who have questions or problems during the course of breastfeeding/lactation."

If you'd like more information about CLCs, please see the Scope of Practice

Is my private information secure?

Protecting your personal health information is important to me. All forms submitted via the Nurture & Nourish website or sent via email are HIPAA compliant, as are all email, video chat (Telehealth), text message, and voice call communications.
